abstract | PURPOSE: To prepare the titled compound useful as an intermediate of a diuretic, in high yield, by reacting 3-alkoxy-3,5-dienesteroid with chloranil in the presence of an acid catalyst, in a specific mixed solvent comprising water and a hydrophilic organic solvent. n CONSTITUTION: The titled compound is prepared by the dehydrogenation reaction of 3-alkoxy-3,5-dienesteriod with chloranil, in a mixed solvent comprising 7W 70vol%, pref. 10W50vol% of water, and remaining part of a hydrophilic organic solvent (e.g. THF, dioxane, etc.), in the presence of an acid catalyst. The 3- alkoxy-3,5-dienesteroid used as a raw material can be prepared by the enol-etherification of a 4-en-3-oxosteroid with an orthoester. When the enol-etherification and the dehydrogenation are carried out successively, the titled compound can be prepared easily, in higher yield. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1981,JPO&Japio |
