titleOfInvention Preparation of aromatic urethane compound
abstract PURPOSE: To prepare the title compound economically, in high yield and in a short time, by reacting an aromatic nitro compound with an OH-containing organic compound and CO in the presence of a catalyst and a specific metal oxide, at high temperature and pressure. n CONSTITUTION: An aromatic urethane is prepared by reacting an aromatic nitro compound with an organic compound containing one or more OH groups (e.g. ethanol, phenol, etc.) and CO, in the presence of a catalytic system comprising platinum group metal (e.g. Pd, Rh, etc.) and its compound as main catalyst, and a Lewis acid (e.g. FeCl 3 , etc.) and its compound as co-catalyst, and an oxide of a metal of Va or VIa group of the periodic table (e.g. vanadium oxide, molybdenum oxide, etc.) or a metallic acid salt. The yield of the urethane is as high as 97% e.g. in case of F-phenylcarbamic acid ethyl ester. n USE: Raw material of pesticides, isocyanates, or polyurethane. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1979,JPO&Japio
