abstract (57) [Problem] To provide an alkaline storage battery having a high energy density and a small capacity deterioration even when a charge / discharge cycle is repeated at a high temperature. SOLUTION: Nickel hydroxide solid solution particles having a coating layer of cobalt oxide, wherein the cobalt oxide has a cobalt valence of more than 3.0 and contains potassium or sodium inside the crystal. A material having lithium hydroxide or lithium ions fixed thereon is used as a positive electrode active material.
