(57) Abstract: A method for producing a vinyl alcohol polymer, which comprises reacting a vinyl ester polymer having an epoxy group with a compound having a thiol group or a thioester group to saponify the vinyl ester polymer. [Effect] According to the present invention, under relatively mild reaction conditions, various functional groups having excellent reactivity, crosslinkability, ionic interaction, water solubility, interfacial physical properties or flexibility at low temperature can be efficiently prepared. Can be introduced into PVA. Further, according to the present invention, various functional groups which could not be obtained by the conventional method can be introduced into PVA. |
