abstract | (57) [Summary] [Objective] By using an efficient process using hydrocyanic acid and formalin instead of chloroacetic acid used in the conventional method, high yield, Provided is a method for producing high-purity aminosulfonic acid-N, N-diacetic acid and an alkali metal salt thereof. [Structure] Aminosulfonic acids such as taurine, aminomethanesulfonic acid, 2-aminobenzenesulfonic acid and cysteic acid are reacted with hydrocyanic acid and formaldehyde or glycolonitrile in the presence or absence of an alkali metal hydroxide. A process for producing aminosulfonic acid-N, N-diacetic acid and an alkali metal salt thereof. Further, a biodegradable chelating agent containing, as an active ingredient, at least one selected from these aminosulfonic acid-N, N-diacetic acid and alkali metal salts thereof. |
