(57) [Summary] (Modified) [Objective] To provide a method for the treatment of human or animal scar tissue. [Structure] In scar tissue or tissue adjacent to scar tissue, Treatment of scar tissue by introducing a therapeutic composition containing a bioactive agent selected from naturally occurring growth factors, synthetic growth factors, active peptide segments of natural and synthetic growth factors, and mixtures thereof. Methods and therapeutic compositions used therein. The therapeutic composition includes a biodegradable or non-biodegradable support matrix material to provide sustained release of the bioactive agent. Most scar tissue, especially in humans, is very dense and difficult for the therapeutic composition to penetrate. To deconcentrate scar tissue and spatially expand scar tissue fibers, It is preferred to introduce into the scar tissue a therapeutic composition containing a softening and expanding composition and a bioactive agent. The softening and expanding composition may be introduced at the same time as the introduction of the therapeutic composition, but is introduced prior to the therapeutic composition. |
