The present invention generally relates to modified cross-linked PEGylated microgel particles that are composed of proteins and protein-based biopolymers and are water-insoluble and water-swellable, exhibit pseudoplasticity (shear thinning), and flow in an aqueous medium under shear force. The microgel particles can be reconstituted into clusters of microgel particles when shear force is lost. The microgel particles function as a matrix that supports cell growth, viability, and proliferation. [Selection] Figure 1 |
