(57) [Summary] [Purpose] A method for producing pure water with little contamination by the eluate from the ion exchange resin used, an ion exchange resin suitable for the method, and a method for producing the same. [Issue] An ion exchange resin having a copolymer of a monovinyl aromatic compound which may contain a monovinyl aliphatic compound and a polyvinyl compound as a matrix, and having a molecular weight of less than 3000 when immersed in warm water at 50 ° C for 7 days. The organic compound of (1) is eluted but the organic compound having a molecular weight of 3,000 or more is not substantially eluted.
