titleOfInvention Porous fine particle
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain spherical particles having an excellent heat and chemical resistances, a high porosity and a sufficient strength by preparing a thermoplastic crystalline polymer having a specified glass transition temperature so that it may have a mean particle diameter and a porosity each in a specified range. n CONSTITUTION: Spherical porous particles comprising a thermoplastic crystalline polymer of a glass transition temperature of 130°C or above (e.g. polyether ketone of formula I or polyether ketone of formula II) and having a mean particle diameter of 1-40μm and a porosity of 60-95wt.%. These particles can be obtained, for example, by dissolving a thermoplastic crystalline polymer of glass transition temperature of 130°C or above in heated sulfolane, cooling the solution and dispersing the obtained gel in water by ultrasonic dispersion. Although the particles are free from any crosslinked structure, they have heat resistance and chemical resistance, high porosity and sufficient strength and are applicable to a chromatographic carrier, an absorbent, a support for bacterial cells, a carrier for catalyst, a filter medium, a cleaning material for a filter medium or the like. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1992,JPO&Japio
