titleOfInvention Composition for core of optical fiber and optical fiber
abstract PURPOSE:To obtain the compsn. for the core of the optical fiber which is small in light transmission loss even under the conditions of a high temp. and high humidity by applying the cured matter of the specific organopolysiloxane compsn. as the core of the optical fiber. CONSTITUTION:The first essential component to constitute the compsn. for the core of the optical fiber is the organopolysiloxane which is expressed by formula I and has at least two org. groups contg. an epoxy group by bonding to a silicon atom on one molecule. The organopolysiloxane which is expressed by formula II and having at least one org. group contg. an acid anhydride bonded to a silicon atom in one molecule is compounded as the 2nd essential component. In the formulas, R<1> denotes a monovalent org. group contg. the epoxy group; R<2>, R<4> denote a monovalent hydrocarbon group; a=0.0004 to 3, b=0 to 2.5, (a+b)=1.1 to 3. R<3> denotes 6 to 14C trivalent arom. org. group; c=0.0004 to 3, d=0 to 2.5, (c+d)=1.1 to 3. The increase in the transmission loss when the fiber is exposed to the high temp. and high humidity is prevented in this way.
