titleOfInvention Novel cyclopentane derivative and its preparation
abstract NEW MATERIAL:A cyclopentane derivative of formula I (B is nucleic acid base derivative; R is H, substituted acyl, substituted or unsubstituted phosphoric acid group or protecting group). n EXAMPLE: (+)-(3S, 4S)-3,4-Bis(hydroxymethyl)-1-methylene cyclopentane. n USE: Useful as a drug such as an antiviral agent or carcinostatic agent. n PREPARATION: A compound of formula II (X is a releasable group) is made to react with a nucleic acid base derivative, e.g. a compound of formula III (Y 1 is H, NHR); Y 2 is H, NHR, OR 1 ; R 1 is benzyl, 1-5C lower alkyl, etc.,) preferably in an equivalent ratio of 1:(1-5) in the presence of a basic catalyst in a solvent at 0°C - the reflux temperature of the solvent. When having a protecting group or an easily releasable substituent, the prepared compound is, if desired, subjected to a protecting group-removing treatment, etc., to provide to compound of formula I. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1991,JPO&Japio
