abstract PURPOSE: To prepare chewing gum having a powerful rising sweet taste and continual sweet taste by compounding sucrarose, sugar alcohol and moisture absorptive liquid with a chewing gum base. n CONSTITUTION: The following compsn. is used as the sucrarose sweet taste chewing gum compsn.: The compsn. consists of A) about 15 to 55wt.% chewing gum base, B) about 0.05 to 0.5wt.% sucrarose, C) about 40 to 80wt.% sugar alcohol (selected from xylitol, maltitol and sorbitol) and D) about 5 to 20wt.% moisture absorptive liquid (e.g.; glycerol, 1,2-propanediol); the sucrarose is released at a rate equiv. to 15 to 50 sucrarose equiv. within the first 30 seconds of mastication and is released at a rate below 6 sucrarose equiv. after 5 minutes of mastication and the moisture content is ≤2wt.%. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1991,JPO
