abstract | PURPOSE: To increase the economy of manufacture and improve the handling by replacing fuel rods at the outermost peripheral corner position of square lattice-shaped fuel rod arrangement with a fuel rod containing no plutonium without fail. n CONSTITUTION: The fuel assembly for the nuclear reactor is so formed that some of fuel rods 2 in the area consisting of the outermost peripheral position of the square lattice-shaped fuel rod arrangement and the corner position of the 2nd periphery are replaced with fuel rods 2 containing no plutonium and the fuel rods 2 at the corner position of the outermost periphery contain no plutonium without fail. Consequently, while a decrease in plutonium charging amount per fuel assembly is minimized, the kinds of MOX fuel can be decreased. Further, uranium fuel containing no plutonium is used for fuel rods with which inflammable poisonous substance is mixed to reduce the manufacture line of the MOX fuel and the manufacture cost and also improve the handling. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1991,JPO&Japio |
