abstract To reconstitute a partially exhausted nuclear fuel assembly whose rods (12, 14, 16) contain a fuel consisting essentially of uranium and plutonium oxides, each extracted rod is replaced by a new rod devoid of combustible material and consisting of a mixture of a neutron-transparent material and a neutron-absorbing material, in proportions such that the average power of the assembly during one or more subsequent passages in the reactor is not modified by more than 8% compared to an unmodified joint and that the variation of the radial power factor of the joint Fxy does not exceed 1%.
