PURPOSE: To produce a syndiotactic polyolefin on a large industrial scale by (co) polymerizing a specified olefin in the presence of a catalyst comprising a specified transition metal component and a specified aluminoxane in a solution state, a suspension state or a vapor phase. n CONSTITUTION: In producing a syndiotactic polyolefin by (co)polymerizing an olefin of formula I (R a and R b are each H, a 1-28C alkyl or may be combined with other atoms to form a ring) at -60 to 200°C under a pressure of 0.5-100 bar in the presence of a catalyst comprising a transition metal component being a metallocene and a linear aluminoxane represented by formula II (R 9 is a 1-6 C alkyl, a 6-10C aryl or benzyl; and n is 2-50) and/or a cyclic aluminoxane represented by formula III (R 9 and n are as defined above) in a solution state, a suspension state or a vapor phase, the polymerization is practiced in the presence of a catalyst in which the transition metal component comprises a compound of formula IV (R 1 and R 2 are each H, a halogen, a 1-10C alkyl or the like; R 3 and R 4 , whuch are different from each other, are each a mono- or poly-nuclear hydrocarbon group which together with the Hf may form a sandwich structure; R 5 is a group of formula V, VI, VII or the like; R 6 and R 7 are each H, a halogen, a 1-10C alkyl or the luke; and M 1 is Si,Ge or Sn). n COPYRIGHT: (C)1990,JPO |
