titleOfInvention | Joined product of ceramic and metal |
abstract | PURPOSE: To obtain the subject joined product free from a binder and having high reliability by directly bonding a non-oxide ceramic having an oxidized surface layer to a metallic member having oxygen on the surface through the oxidized surface layer and a eutectic mixture of the oxygen and metal. n CONSTITUTION: A non-oxide ceramic member such as Si 3 N 4 or AIN is heated in air e.g. at 1000-1400°C (in the case of AIN) to form an oxidized surface layer having a thickness of about 20μm on the surface of the member. A metallic member such as copper, iron or Ni is made to directly contact with said oxidized surface layer and heated to obtain the objective joined material. The heating temperature is lower than the melting point of the metal and higher than the eutectic temperature of the metal and oxygen. For example in the case of using copper as the metal, the heating temperature is lower than the melting point of copper (1083°C) and higher than the eutectic temperature of copper-oxygen (1065°C). The heating is preferably carried out in a gaseous atmosphere inert to the metallic member, the binder (the above eutectic mixture) and the ceramic member, for example, in an N 2 gas atmosphere. The metallic member is a metal containing 100-2,000ppm of oxygen at least on the surface, e.g. tough pitch copper. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1990,JPO&Japio |
