titleOfInvention Aromatic polyester and its production
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain an aromatic polyester excellent in moldability, heat resistance and soldering resistance by reacting 2,6-naphthalenedicarboxylic acid with benzenedicarboxylic acid, 4,4'-biphenol and hydroxybenzoic acid under specified conditions. n CONSTITUTION: The polycondensation of 1-45mol% 2,6-naphthalene-dicarboxylic acid, 2-45mol% benzenedicarboxylic acid, 3-45mol% 4,4'-biphenol and 10-90mol% hydroxybenzoic acid (the total is 100 mol%) is performed by adding an acid anhydride (e.g., acetic anhydride) to the system, and the reaction is performed at 100-400°C while acids and acid anhydrides are being distilled from the system to obtain an aromatic polyester comprising 1-45 equivalent % 2,6-naphthalene dicarboxylic acid residues of formula I, 2-45 equivalent % dicarboxylic acid residues of formula II, 3-45 equivalent % 4,4'-biphenol residues of formula III and 10-90 equivalent % hydroxybenzoic acid residues of formula IV, satisfying the relationship: 0.9≤([1]+[2])/[3] ≤1.1 (wherein [1]-[4] are the numbers of equivalents of the respective components in order of the formulas) and having a melt viscosity (320°C, 100sec -1 )≥10 P. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1989,JPO&Japio
