abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording medium having excellent running stability and a thin total thickness. The present technology includes a magnetic layer, a base layer, a base layer, and a back layer. The servo pattern is recorded on the magnetic layer, the statistical value σSW indicating the non-linearity of the servo band obtained from the reproduced waveform of the servo signal of the servo pattern is 24 nm or less, and the base layer is mainly composed of polyester. The average thickness tT of the magnetic recording medium is 5.6 μm or less, the magnetic recording medium contains a lubricant, and pores are formed in the magnetic recording medium. Provided is a tape-shaped magnetic recording medium having an average diameter of 6 nm or more and 11 nm or less when the lubricant is removed from the magnetic recording medium and measured in a dry state.
