The present invention relates to a separator and an electrochemical device including the separator. The separator according to the present invention includes a nonwoven fabric base material having a large number of pores formed of fibers and having pores formed between the fibers, and a polymer coating formed on a part or the whole of the surface of the fibers. The polymer coating layer includes a polymer having a tensile strength of 80 MPa or more and a tensile modulus and a flexural modulus of 3,000 MPa or more, respectively. The separator according to the present invention can reduce the manufacturing cost of the electrochemical element, can prevent the occurrence of leakage current by controlling the size of pores present in the nonwoven fabric substrate, and can further improve the mechanical strength. . |
