titleOfInvention | Factor FVIII polymer conjugate |
abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a Factor FVIII polymer conjugate. The present invention is a proteinaceous construct comprising a Factor VIII molecule conjugated with a water-soluble polymer via the carbohydrate moiety of Factor VIII, and a method for preparing the same. In one embodiment of the invention, the water soluble polymer is selected from polyethylene glycol (PEG), polysialic acid (PSA), or dextran. The present invention relates to proteinaceous constructs comprising coagulation factor VIII (FVIII) bound to at least one water soluble polymer, including poly (alkylene oxides) such as polyethylene glycol. Furthermore, the present invention relates to a method for extending the in vivo half-life of FVIII in the blood of a mammal having a bleeding disorder associated with a functional defect or deficiency of FVIII.
