abstract | An image forming apparatus is provided that is excellent in cleaning performance of a cleaning blade and wear resistance of an image carrier, and can suppress the occurrence of foreign matters on the image carrier. An image forming apparatus includes an image carrier 3, a charging device that charges the image carrier 3, an exposure unit that exposes the charged image carrier 3 to form an electrostatic latent image, and an image carrier. The electrostatic latent image formed on the toner image 3 is developed with toner to form a toner image, a transfer unit that transfers the toner image formed on the image carrier 3 to a recording medium, and the toner image is transferred. The image carrier 3 has a cleaning device 6 for cleaning the image carrier 3. The image carrier 3 has a photosensitive layer and a surface layer sequentially laminated. The surface layer contains a binder resin and particles. The cleaning blade 62 has a composition containing a curing agent cured in an area in contact with the image carrier 3, and the curing agent is composed of a polycyclic aliphatic hydrocarbon group and (meth) acryloyl.
