titleOfInvention | Sugar-substituted dihydroxy-chlorins and β-functionalized chlorins for antibacterial photodynamic therapy |
abstract | Antibacterial molecular complexes are provided for the treatment and prevention of infectious diseases caused by pathogenic microorganisms in humans and animals. An important point for these complexes is to link dihydroxychlorin or β-functionalized chlorin to the carbohydrate moiety. These complexes have been found to be very useful in ameliorating bacterial infections caused by gram positive and gram negative bacteria including resistant strains. Significantly, they are also effective in complex environments involving blood, serum and other body fluids present in the patient's body. Also provided are methods of use for controlling pathogenic microorganisms in humans and animals. |
