abstract The present invention provides a flux using a rosin derivative compound for soldering, in which a residue is hardly cracked even when exposed to an intense cooling and heating cycle for a long time. A rosin derivative compound obtained by dehydration condensation of (A) a rosin-based carboxyl group-containing resin and (B) a dimer acid derivative flexible alcohol compound, the dimer acid derivative flexible alcohol compound (B). (B-1) Dimer acid derivative flexible alcohol compound obtained by reducing dimer acid, (b-2) Dimer acid derivative obtained by dehydrating ester of dimer acid and compound (b-1) A rosin derivative compound, which is either a flexible alcohol compound or (b-3) a dimer acid derivative flexible alcohol compound obtained by dehydrating ester of a dimer acid and an alcohol compound.
