Provided is an active ester resin in which a cured product obtained has excellent heat resistance, a small change in heat resistance after heat history, and a low dielectric constant and dielectric loss tangent. The following structural formula (1) [Wherein, R 1 and R 2 each independently represent a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, or an alkoxy group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms. Z is an ester-forming structural site (z1) or a hydrogen atom (z2).
