abstract | The field of the invention relates to the stabilization of nanoparticles in aqueous dispersions, and more particularly to the stabilization of nanoparticles by encapsulating the nanoparticles in a micelle complex. The field of the invention further relates to nanoparticle micelle complexes and methods and uses of the micelle complexes. In a first aspect, the present disclosure teaches a micelle complex that allows stable dispersion of nanoparticles in an aqueous environment. The micelle complex includes at least one nanoparticle in the nucleus of the micelle complex. A plurality of surfactants are co-assembled with a plurality of hydrophobic ligands on the surface of the nanoparticles such that the hydrophilic portion of the surfactant forms a hydrophilic shell around the core of the micelle complex.
