The image receiving element is a multilayer composite comprising, in order, an extruded compliant layer, an aqueous coated subbing layer, and an image receiving layer, which may be extruded, on a support. . The extruded compliant layer is not voided and contains 10-40% by weight of at least one elastomeric polymer. The image receiving element can be disposed on a support to form a thermal dye receiving element, an electrophotographic image receiving element or a thermal wax receiving element. The aqueous coated subbing layer provides excellent adhesion between the extruded compliant layer and the image receiving layer. |
