abstract | An image forming apparatus capable of satisfactorily removing toner of each color with the same bias regardless of the number of overlapping toner patterns when a refresh mode is executed. Toner image forming means for forming a toner image on the surface of an image carrier using an image carrier that can move the surface, black toner, and one or more other colors of toner different from black. 6, a transfer means 18 for transferring the toner image on the surface of the image carrier to the transfer material, and the toner attached to the surface of the image carrier that is provided downstream of the transfer means in the moving direction of the image carrier.
