abstract |
An ophthalmic apparatus having a high water content is provided. A polymerized product of a monomer mixture comprising (a) a majority amount of a non-silicone-containing hydrophilic monomer; (b) a hydrophobic monomer; and (c) a cross-linking agent, the equilibrated water content. Is at least about 70% by weight, and an ophthalmic device is disclosed having an evaporative dehydration blocking layer on the surface. A method for reducing corneal dehydration by evaporation using this high water content ophthalmic device is also disclosed. [Selection] Figure 1 |
