abstract Disclosed is a cutting tool made of a surface-coated cubic boron nitride-based ultra-high pressure sintered material that exhibits excellent peeling resistance in high-speed cutting of high-hardness steel. In a cutting tool in which a hard coating layer is formed on the surface of a cBN-based ultrahigh pressure sintered body having a cubic boron nitride content of 50 to 85% by volume, (a) the hard coating layer is 0 (B) The lower layer is made of a TiN film, and the upper layer has a composition formula: [Ti 1-X Al X ] N (X is It consists of a composite nitride layer of Ti and Al that satisfies the atomic ratio of 0.15 to 0.65), and (c) the nano-indentation hardness, residual stress, and surface roughness of the flank face, rake face, and honing part.
