abstract | In an image forming apparatus including a latent image carrying portion in which a photosensitive layer made of at least amorphous silicon is formed on a conductive substrate and a cleaning portion having an elastic blade, image flow occurs and printing is performed for a long period of time. To provide a toner for developing an electrostatic latent image that can suppress a decrease in image density when the image is to be processed. It is another object of the present invention to provide an image forming method using the above-described image forming apparatus capable of suppressing the occurrence of image flow and the decrease in image density when printing is performed for a long period of time. An external additive is attached to toner base particles containing at least a binder resin and a colorant, the external additive contains titanium oxide, and the titanium oxide has an average primary particle diameter of more than 100 nm and 250 nm or less. There is an electrostatic latent image developing toner having a liberation rate of 40% by mass or less in the electrostatic latent image developing toner measured by classifying free titanium oxide in the electrostatic latent image developing toner by an airflow classifier.
