[PROBLEMS] To suppress an increase in pressure applied to a filter while efficiently removing only foreign matters and gel-like substances that adversely affect the production process and fiber performance of a carbon fiber precursor acrylonitrile fiber contained in a spinning dope. A filter material for obtaining high-strength carbon fiber is provided. SOLUTION: A filter material obtained by laminating and sintering nonwoven fabric type filter materials having different openings so as to have a two-layer or three-layer structure in the order of the smallest openings. The filling rate Xk (%) of the kth layer, the thickness Yk (mm), and the cross-sectional area Zk (μm 2 ) of the fibers constituting the filter material satisfy the following expressions (1) to (3). However, k is the order of fine openings of the filter material for purifying the acrylonitrile-based polymer solution, and n is the number of layers of the filter material. [Selection figure] None |
