abstract |
[PROBLEMS] To efficiently detach a chlorine by detaching one carbon-chlorine bond in a trichloromethyl group with high selectivity even under mild conditions, and to easily separate a catalyst from a product after the reaction. And a method for obtaining a compound containing a dichloromethyl group from a compound containing a trichloromethyl group, which can be reused. The method includes contacting a compound containing a trichloromethyl group with a noble metal catalyst in a wet atmosphere under a hydrogen atmosphere to cleave one carbon-chlorine bond in the trichloromethyl group and desorb chlorine. A method for obtaining a compound containing a dichloromethyl group. The noble metal catalyst is preferably a catalyst comprising carbon particles and at least one noble metal selected from the group consisting of platinum, palladium and rhodium supported on the carbon particles.
