Composite particles having an antioxidant-based protection system and topical compositions containing the same |
abstract |
The present invention relates to a topical composition comprising a dispersion of composite particles. Each such composite particle includes one or more core particles encapsulated or encapsulated in a polymer shell. At least some of the core particles are formed from a material that can cause the generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS). In addition, each composite particle is (1) a first antioxidant that is encapsulated or incorporated inside the polymer shell with the core particle to quench or trap ROS generated near the core particle, And (2) a second antioxidant that coats the polymer shell to prevent or reduce oxidative damage to the skin (eg, lipid peroxidation). Thus, the particle dispersions of the present invention are easily formulated into topical sunscreen compositions with organic sunscreen agents that are susceptible to oxidative degradation or degradation, and improved against skin damage caused by UV light exposure. Protection can be provided. [Selection] Figure 1 |
