abstract | A heat transfer composite comprising a plurality of pyrolytic graphite portions and an on-carbonaceous matrix that holds the pyrolytic graphite portions in the form of a solidified aggregate. In one embodiment, the heat transfer composite includes a number of pyrolytic graphite portions randomly distributed within the non-carbonaceous matrix. In another embodiment, the heat transfer composite includes separate layers disposed within the layers of the sheet in which the pyrolytic graphite portion comprises a non-carbonaceous material. In yet another embodiment, the heat transfer composite includes a substrate containing at least one non-carbonaceous matrix containing at least one pyrolytic graphite portion in the form of a solidified aggregate.
