A pixel aperture ratio in a reflective or transmissive display device is improved without increasing the number of masks and without using a black mask. The pixel electrode 167 is disposed so as to partially overlap with the source wiring 137 in a portion where light shielding is performed between the pixels, and the TFT is shielded by the gate wiring 166 overlapping the channel formation region of the TFT, whereby a high pixel aperture ratio is achieved.
