abstract | The present invention provides a cation exchange resin excellent in catalytic activity and catalyst life when a bisphenol compound is produced by a condensation reaction between a phenol compound and a carbonyl compound. A cation exchange resin for producing a bisphenol compound having an oxidation TOC elution resistance determined by the following (1) to (3) of 100 (mg-TOC / L-resin) or less. (1) Add 100 mL of ultrapure water having a TOC of 10 ppb or less to 40 mL of cation exchange resin, shake the mixture at 40 ° C. for 20 hours, collect the supernatant, and measure the TOC value (initial TOC value). (2) In (1) above, 0.1% by weight hydrogen peroxide solution diluted with ultrapure water having a TOC of 10 ppb or less is added instead of ultrapure water, and the TOC value (oxidized TOC value) is measured in the same manner.
