IgG plays an important role in mediating protection against pathogens and mediating allergic and inflammatory responses that promote the recruitment of immune system components to tissues, mucosa, and skin surfaces. The present invention, in some embodiments, relates to peptides derivatized with hydrophilic polymers that bind to human FcRn and inhibit the Fc portion of IgG from binding to FcRn, thereby modulating serum IgG concentrations. The disclosed compositions and methods can be used in some embodiments, for example, in treating autoimmune diseases and inflammatory disorders. The invention also relates, in a further embodiment, to methods of using and making the peptides of the invention. |
