abstract The present invention provides an electrolyte containing a novel additive for an electrochemical device, and the electrochemical device. The additive comprises the following formula (I): Wherein R is as defined herein and n is 2, 3, or 4. The additive of the present invention can improve the lifetime of the electrochemical device by protecting the surface of the carbonaceous material on the anode and suppressing the occurrence of peeling. Furthermore, the additive of the present invention also delays the decay of capacity on the cathode during the charge / discharge cycle, thus maintaining better performance. [Selection figure] None
