PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrolyte capable of providing a lithium secondary battery having excellent electrochemical characteristics and swelling characteristics, and a lithium secondary battery including the same. SOLUTION The present invention relates to an electrolyte for a lithium secondary battery and a lithium secondary battery including the same, wherein the electrolyte for a lithium secondary battery is 20 to 95% by volume of ester or ether based on the total amount of organic solvent. A non-aqueous organic solvent including an organic solvent; a lithium salt; and a compound additive having two or more carbonate groups bonded thereto. The lithium secondary battery has excellent electrochemical characteristics such as capacity characteristics and life characteristics and swelling characteristics, particularly, high-temperature swelling characteristics.
