An object of the present invention is to obtain particles that have very little nonspecific adsorption of biochemical substances and that can separate target biochemical substances with extremely high purity and high yield. An organic polymer particle for separating a biochemical substance from a biological sample by using an interaction with a probe, the organic polymer particle having an active functional group for binding a probe. An organic polymer particle characterized by having a nonionic hydrophilic group having a value obtained by dividing the surface area of the particle by the amount of the active functional group of 20 to 5,000 2 .
