Disclosed is a method for producing silica particles having a crosslinkable functional group such as an isocyanate group or an epoxy group useful for binding biomolecules or the like to silica particles on the particle surface. A dispersion of silica particles dispersed in an aprotic solvent contains a crosslinkable compound having two or more crosslinkable functional groups, and the surface of the silica particles is reacted with the crosslinkable compound to be shared. Silica particles having a crosslinkable functional group on the particle surface, comprising a step of bonding and causing at least one unreacted crosslinkable functional group of the two or more crosslinkable functional groups to be present on the surface of the silica particle.
