Detection and treatment of steroid receptors in circulating cancer cells |
abstract |
Expression of a steroid receptor from circulating cancer cells in a blood sample is performed by isolating the cancer cells from the blood sample and preparing an extract from the isolated cancer cells. It is detected by performing a highly sensitive immunoassay that can detect steroid receptors associated with. A positive result indicates the presence of the steroid receptor in the cancer cell. The method can be used to identify cancer patients that may benefit from treatment with an endocrine therapeutic agent. |
