titleOfInvention | Designed cell growth on polymer thin film and its biotechnological application |
abstract | A free-standing film is fabricated from a structure that includes a base layer coated with a sacrificial polymer layer and then coated with a flexible polymer layer. Next, cells are seeded on the flexible polymer layer and cultured to form a tissue. Next, the flexible polymer layer is released from the base layer to produce a free-standing thin film containing tissue on the flexible polymer layer. In one embodiment, the cell is a muscle cell and can be actuated to propel or displace the free-standing membrane. In another embodiment, a free-standing film is used to treat damaged human tissue. |
