The present invention relates to a method for treating a patient suffering from Huntington's disease with a drug that increases phosphorylation of huntingtin at position S421 and thereby reduces polyQ-huntingtin-induced toxicity. Useful compounds are selected from the group consisting of cyclosporin A, FK506, FK520, L685, 818, FK523, 15-0-DeMe-FK520, Lie120, fenvalerate, resmethrin, cypermethrin, deltamethrin. Also disclosed are methods for selecting, identifying or screening compounds useful for treating a subject suffering from Huntington's disease. |
