titleOfInvention | Ceramic metal halide lamp |
abstract | The metal halide lamp (10) includes a discharge vessel (12) that may be formed from a ceramic material. This container defines an internal space (16). An ionizable inclusion (17) is placed in the interior space. This ionizable enclosure contains an inert gas, mercury and halide components. Halide components include alkali metal halides, alkaline earth halide components, and optionally one or more rare earth halides and Group IIIA halides. The alkaline earth halide component includes one or more barium halides and strontium halides. One or more electrodes (18, 20) are provided in the discharge vessel and activate the enclosure when a current is applied. This lamp has a tube wall load sufficient to maintain an active tungsten halogen cycle when energized. [Selection] Figure 1 |
