A novel gadolinium having high T1 alleviation ability, capable of high-sensitivity imaging even with a small dose, excellent in contrasting systemic blood vessels and liver, and having a safety that most of it is excreted outside the body within 24 hours. A compound and a contrast agent for MRI containing the same are provided. Glu-4Ac-Gd-DTPA, Glu-4-Gd-DTPA-6, Glu-4-Gd-DTPA-3 (Glu represents glucose, Ac represents acetyl, DTPA represents diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid), and the like.
