abstract Surface modification is required for water-solubilization of nanoparticles and introduction of reactive groups with biomolecules, but binding of a surface-modified ligand to the core of the nanoparticles significantly reduces the emission intensity. It was an issue. An object of the present invention is to provide nanoparticles that are water-soluble while maintaining emission intensity. A nanoparticle comprising a sulfide or an oxide containing a Group 11 element and a Group 13 element in the periodic table as a component, and a reactive group capable of binding to a biomolecule on the surface of the nanoparticle.
