abstract Provided is a group 13 nitride semiconductor nanoparticle fluorescent material which has high sensitivity and uniform light emission characteristics, is safe and has little influence on the environment. A group 13 nitride semiconductor nanoparticle fluorescent material of the present invention having a group 13 nitride semiconductor nanoparticle and a surface modifying molecule bonded to the surface of the semiconductor nanoparticle is the group 13 nitride semiconductor nanoparticle. The particles are characterized in that an organometallic compound containing a group 13 element and a nitrogen raw material are mixed and reacted in a gas phase or plasma. [Selection figure] None
