Disclosed are novel HIV sequences, polypeptides encoded by these novel sequences, and synthetic expression cassettes generated from these and other HIV sequences. The synthetic polynucleotide of the present invention encodes two or more immunogenic HIV polypeptides, at least two of which are from different HIV subtypes. In one embodiment, the HIV subtype is subtype B and subtype C. In another embodiment, the HIV polypeptide is selected from the group consisting of Gag, Env, Pol, Tat, Rev, Nef, Vpr, Vpu, Vif and combinations thereof. [Selection figure] None |
