An ink jet recording medium having an ink receiving layer containing inorganic fine particles and a nitrogen-containing organic cationic polymer on a support, wherein the nitrogen-containing organic cationic polymer is parallel to the support. An ink jet recording medium characterized in that it is contained more in the side half closer to the support than in the side half far from the support when divided into two equal parts on a flat plane.
